In Eastbourne, we’ve supported local services and residents to work together and design a more effective response to nuisance noise. As part of the Our Place project, Eastbourne Borough Council wanted to work with others in the community to design an effective response to complaints of noise in the town centre. We facilitated design workshops with services and residents, making the most of contributions from local organisations including Street Pastors, mediation services and students’ unions, which resulted in a multi-faceted plan to both reduce noise and deal with it more effectively. Results from our initial cost-benefit analysis show that the project will be value for money, saving the police over £18,000 a year through a reduction in calls about noise.
