The Chief Executives and Boards of Kisharon and Langdon commissioned Mobilise & Natalie Grazin Consulting: “To enable the agreement of a non-binding memorandum of understanding between the participating charities within 6 months”.

Kisharon and Langdon’s shared objective in undertaking this work was to identify the optimum model that will allow them to respond to the needs of people with learning disabilities and autism in a person-centred and collaborative way, to achieve better outcomes.

We provided two forms of support: a “project management” role, facilitating and enabling the conversations that would drive towards the signing of an MOU; and scrutiny of the headline conclusion of the Steering Group of a “New Entity” option and comparing that to other options: joint working, a shared back office, a subsidiary model, a shared infrastructure body.

The work was supported by a twin-track approach including rigorous analysis, and people to people encounters from across both organisations that included: 10 workstreams, 3 participative inquiry events, organisational health index assessed managerial cultures, SLT and board conversations. The analysis delivered a full, service case options appraisal, a financial, fundraising and cost benefit analysis and a legal options appraisal.  Work was also undertaken on a Vision, Mission and Offer for a new entity which gave the charities a clear sense of what could be achieved by coming together.

We were impressed with the atmosphere of openness, genuine enquiry and potential.  We are excited that the two organisations are now building their future together and will realise the significant benefits for their charities and the adults they support.
