Mobilise was invited to develop a way forward to support community infrastructure in a disadvantaged area of the Borough. The backdrop was a significant reduction in mainstream and external funding sources, and high levels of inter-organisational mistrust. The reward was a potential capital investment of £1m and asset transfer to develop an asset base to support the local community infrastructure.

Mobilise secured agreement across all organisations to develop a community anchor (a independent community led organisation) for the area. This was done by proposing constitutional changes to one of the organisations to allow other organisations, as well as local residents, to become stakeholders in the new community anchor. We also convinced the Council and a local Registered Social Landlord to transfer additional assets in the area to ensure the model was of sufficient scale to be sustainable in the future. Mobilise was subsequently retained by the London Borough of Lewisham Council to support the delivery of the community anchor.
